Introduction
The first concept that we can think about when it comes to the United-States is the American Dream, because it was considered ''The Land of Opportunity''. This concept is the reason why so many people immigrated to the country and formed one of the most unique communities around the globe. There are many other concepts that can describe the United-States, such as diverse, melting pot, patriotic, religious, artistic, freedom and many others. President Obama said in one of his speech: ‘’There is not a black America and a white America and Latino America and Asian America; there’s the United States of America’’. (Obama, 2004, par 14.)
The United States is one of the most diverse populations in the world from the people that immigrated from around the globe. Because of this variety of people from different cultures, it is hard to point out the main characteristics of the American culture. North America was originally populated by diverse aboriginal nations. Since the British came to America to expand their territories and created the Thirteen Colonies the dominant ethnical group in the United-States has been white and of European origins. The two biggest minority groups in the United-States are the descendants from Africa, because of the years of slavery and also the descendants of Spanish-speaking countries that are situated at the south of the United-States, such as Mexico. Nowadays, there are various waves of immigration that comes from many other regions of the globe such as Asia and the Middle East, which brings the United-States to have even more diversity in their population. There is many characteristics that forms culture such as language spoken, religion, traditions, holidays, ethnicity, music and art that shapes a country like the United-States because there is a variety of them. Those characteristics bring changes faster than more profound ones such as beliefs and values. (Lewis university. 2013. par 1-2.)
