Religion
As we know, religion is something that always has been important in the United-States. As we know, the principal religious group in the United-States is Christian, but there is also many other religions and faiths that take a lot of importance, such as Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Wicca and Mormonism. The largest religious group in the United-States is the Christian-Catholic church, but in numbers the religion that grows the fastest in the country is a non-Christian religion which is Islam.
Barack Obama is one of the only elected president that significally (in the term of number of votes) brought religious voters to vote for him. ''The story tracked Democratic successes with faith outreach in 2005, 2006, and 2008, noting that President Obama received more votes from "churchgoing voters" than any other presidential candidate in recent elections. '' (Butler Bass, D. 2010. par 2.)
His campaign was axed a lot around hope, faith and changes which touched more the population in general than John McCain's campaign. President Obama was a promise of changes inside the country and he was the hope of the people to see the United-States in better hands.
The Website Gallup classified the United-States as a very religious country in their list that came out last year on the subject (2013). It says that more than 4 in 10 Americans (41%) fit in the classification of very religious. Gallup defines very religious people, as a population that puts their faith as a highly important part of their lives and that they go to religious services almost every week. This classification as very religious isn't associated with any specific religion. (Gallup. 2013. par 3.)
